Our Team

Xiao Yi Wang Beckvall

Xiao Yi is a pre-med student attending Hawaii Pacific University pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Biology and minoring in Forensic Health Science.  She discovered her passion for helping others at a young age when she volunteered at the Special Olympics as a tennis coach in middle school.  Ever since then, she has been coaching, teaching, tutoring, and mentoring others.  She has worked as a Title-I After-School Facilitator with Hawaiian Mission Academy, and most recently, Damien Middle School, where she was able to share her passion for science through conducting hands-on STEM projects with students.  She also tutors students individually in science, English, and math ranging from kindergarten through 12th grade.  When she is not tutoring or teaching, she can either be found in the lab working on Alzheimer’s research, mentoring other students in research and instrumentation techniques, assisting HPU’s communications and marketing team, or running the Alpha Epsilon Delta Pre-Health Honor Society as the Vice President.
